Steve Earle, so many superb songs. I always make playlists for our vacations. And there are always some of his songs on them. I prefer the albums after his time in jail, they lost that awful 80s drum sound, dozens of great, moving songs. Saw him live once in the Zeche, Bochum, the loudest acoustic guitar playing I ever heard.

VERY happy you have got around to these Classics in Heavy Metal history! Thank you Eric, and the _shoutout_ Nick! "Diary of a Madman" with its gorgeous intro by Randy, and the RIFFS is what made me do the deeper dive into all the underground Metal that was coming out at the time. From a "Progger" to Metalhead in circa 1981/83, and both being my prime listening/collecting for the next decade. Eddie Van Halen changed and inspired soo many guitarists to be, and those that became great in their genres. But Randy took a bit of that, but made it, not only Heavy . . . but DARKER. And the "Classical" in him that pre-dates Yngwie by 2 years when he joined Alcatrazz. I think this (Randy) was a HUGE influence a few years after the birth of The New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM) and where it would go for bands around the world. It was a big surprise to see Dream Theater for the "Train of Thought Tour" when they opened for Yes on their 35th Anniversary, and they did an instrumental version of "Machine Messiah". But later in their set, they started to play something familiar, and since I was alone for the show, I whispered to myself; "Is that Diary of a Madman???" Which it was, and they put up the image of the album cover on a screen, but instead of Ozzy, it was "Mike Portnoy" as the Madman😛. They did a fantastic job covering it too! Note: Bassist "Bob Daisly" is one of the sketched faces on the cover of "Long Live Rock 'n Roll" by Rainbow. These tracks bring me back to hanging with my friend Don, going to "Guitar Row" on Hollywood Blvd. to look at guitars and buy parts for the Amps he would take apart and Hot Rod. And all the bands we'd discover, and it was the start of my LP collection. - Thanks again Eric! \m/ Note: I only sent you the 1st 2 Ozzy Albums 😉.

Nick- wow, just NOW remembered JT has several free lessons on UA-cam (more lessons than are posted on his website): cameras on fretboard and from within the soundhole (for right hand), 50% speed etc. Pretty basic stuff although by lesson 6 or so it’s pretty challenging for a beginner. Lessons include nails (vs fingerpicks), some non-traditional basic chord shapes (that facilitate hammer-ons or moving lines, for example), a very interesting section on tuning, etc.

Ahhh, the sweet musical memories! 💖👍 I REALLY connected to the lyrics of Bread- The Guitar Man, during it's heyday on the radio! Towards the end when the song describes thinning crowds and dimming lights.. not just for musicians in their twilight of their careers, but so many situations in life... I think many of us could relate to the "feelings" if not the specifics.. ❣😔 And of course Tommy only knows ONE way to play/interpret/perform, and that's with every molecule of his being! 🥰

Y para reforzar este concepto en la canción se abordan temas relacionados con la política, sociedad, tecnología, economía, religión y la infelicidad en que cada vez viven más las personas. En la última parte hace una crítica a las revistas del corazón, la autoestima de las personas y por supuesto la Iglesia Católica 🙂. En esta canción puedo resumir porque Mägo de Oz me gustó hasta el año 2012.

No band and I mean NO BAND, Prog , pop or any has ever written music the way early GENESIS wrote it.. Not even YES.. Just my opinion.

She was exposed to Gilbert & Sullivan, Broadway show tunes, Opera, Country & Western, American Pop, Mariachi, Jazz and Classical.This created the foundation for each musical "detour" she made starting in the 80"s To that she added special training and coaching to prepare her for each genre. She is known as a perfectionist and so she worked hard. While a trained ear in The Big Band style of Jazz, Mariachi, or Gilbert & Sullivan can hear her slight imperfections; the rest of us hear the product of intensive training. She was born with a musical gift, was nurtured in the musical "hot house" that was her family home and the town of Tucson, was driven by determination and a search for musical perfection to achieve an inspiring life.
